Size Of a Standard Brick (Modular Brick) :

  • 190 × 90 × 90 mm
  • and 190 × 90 × 40 mm.
When placed in masonry the 190 × 90 × 90 mm building brick with mortar becomes 200 × 100 × 100 mm.

Frog :

An indent called frog, is provided for 90 mm high bricks,  10–20 mm deep. The purpose of providing frog is to form a key for holding the mortar and therefore, the bricks are laid with frogs on top. Frog is not provided in 4 cm high bricks and extruded bricks.

  • frog size : The size of frog should be 100 × 40 × 10 mm.

Note : The bricks available in most part of the country still are 9" × 4.5" × 3" and are known as field bricks.
